What is a Euro sham? We get this question a LOT, so don’t feel like you are alone if you don’t know what it is! A Euro sham is a square pillow cover that most commonly measures 26 x 26 & takes an insert or pillow stuffer of the same size. Some Euro shams can be sized as small as 24 x 24 or as large as 27 x 27, but it is always a square. It is best to get a stuffer or pillow insert that is the same size as the Euro sham. So if your Euro sham is 26 x 26, then get a stuffer the same size. It isn’t necessary to spend a fortune on a stuffer for these. Synthetics inserts are usually most desirable because it helps the sham stay fully upright on the bed. But many people prefer down stuffers & those are just fine too. Euro shams typically are used at the very back of the bed. They stand up tall and a Euro sham can be used to provide back support when you are sitting but are mostly decorative in nature. Often the Euro sham will use the same fabric as the bed skirt. This draws the eye as you view the bed and provides a finished look. But it isn’t necessary to have them match.
